Percussion is the backbone of any band.  Learning drums gives one a solid understanding of tempo and rhythm that is essential to all music.

In my lessons we will focus on proper stick control, snare rudiments, limb independence, reading notation, and correct body posture as the foundation.  After we practice some basic beats and fills, we will study how a drummer fits into the context of a group of musicians.  I will frequently play guitar, bass, or synth alongside you to help you learn how to anticipate changes in music and find opportunities for fills, beat changes, and solos.

Intermediate to advanced students will practice soloing and improvisation.
